Is the Rumor That the Manufacturer of Berkey Water Filters is Going Out of Business and Closing its Doors True?
No, we are NOT going out of business! The company that owns Berkey water filters is not going out of business, either.
We would like to address recent concerns and rumors circulating about the status of Berkey® Water Systems. Rest assured, despite recent developments, we want to clarify that we are not going out of business.
It is with regret that we inform you of the closure of our long-time distributor, BerkeyFilters.com. The decision stems from a legal dispute with the EPA, which has reinterpreted its rules to classify Berkey® products as pesticides. This reclassification has been targeted solely at Berkey® products, and the EPA's motive appears to be related to their concerns about the capability of our filters to remove viruses, particularly in the context of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
BerkeyFilters.com was the first dealer to face a Stop-Sale Order, and together, we collaborated with the EPA to address the situation. Unfortunately, after eight months of effort, it became apparent that the EPA was adamant about pursuing the bankruptcy of New Millennium Concepts, its dealers, and, more importantly, restricting public access to effective water purification solutions. Consequently, we have taken legal action against the EPA, and the case is currently in the Appeals Court. We are committed to upholding our values and ensuring your access to reliable water filtration options.
We want to emphasize that the closure of BerkeyFilters.com does not impact New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. (NMCL), the manufacturer, and brand owner of Berkey® Water Systems. BerkeyFilters.com is no longer an authorized Berkey® dealer and is closing its doors.
