The Black Berkey Filters will be out of stock until we win or get an injunction in our lawsuit against the EPA.

These Ultra Sterasyl Ceramic filters are a great alternative in the meantime and are highly recommended. They are a brand new and improved version of the original Super Sterasyl Ceramic filters that Berkey used to offer.

The filtration quality on the Ultra Sterasyl is comparable to the Black Berkey Filters and they are half the price!

The main difference is that these Ultra Sterasyls need to be replaced more often - approx every 6 months to 1 year.

ULTRA STERYSYL CERAMIC WATER FILTERS

The re-cleanable upper chamber Ultra Super Sterasyl ceramic filters remove suspended solids, reduce organic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, PFAS, microplastics, pesticides, herbicides, organic solvents, trihalomethanes, SOCs, VOCs and foul tastes and odors.

These upper chamber filter elements are produced using the latest ceramic techniques to provide a hollow porous ceramic which is fired at a temperature in excess of 1000C. They are designed to operate with water flow going from the outside to the inside of the element. Each element has a unique domed ceiling assuring that leakage cannot occur, which may happen with capped filters.

More About Ultra Sterasyl Ceramic Filters

The Ultra Sterasyl Ceramic Filters shell exhibits a strictly controlled pore structure, so as to provide efficient sub-micron filtration, a proven defense against hard shelled parasites, as well as removing other less harmful, but equally unpleasant debris, such as rust and dirt. The bore of the filter contains granular activated carbon that aids in the reduction of chlorine and reduces organic chemicals along with improving the color, taste, and odor of the source water. The filter needs to be kept in a place where the temperature is between 40 – 100 F for proper filtration.

  • Reduce Organic Chemicals - Pesticides, herbicides, organic solvents, SOCs, VOCs, trihalomethanes

Note: Your first use of the Ultra Sterasyl Filter will be slow. No worries - this is normal. After a few cycles (after the internal carbon block is thoroughly flushed), the speed will improve. The pores on the ceramic filter element are smaller than other filters on the market (100 times thinner than a follicle of hair). This not only filters the suspended solids out of your drinking water properly, but it also allows extra exposure time to the carbon and media. The more filter elements you use, the quicker the flow rate.

Note: Ceramic filters are upper chamber elements. They do not work simultaneously with upper chamber Black Berkey purifying elements, nor do they work with the PF-2 fluoride filters. Only one technology is designed to operate in the upper chamber at a time.
