The Black Berkey Filters will be out of stock until we win or get an injunction in our lawsuit against the EPA.
These Ultra Sterasyl Ceramic filters are a great alternative in the meantime and are highly recommended. They are a brand new and improved version of the original Super Sterasyl Ceramic filters that Berkey used to offer.
The filtration quality on the Ultra Sterasyl is comparable to the Black Berkey Filters and they are half the price!
The main difference is that these Ultra Sterasyls need to be replaced more often - approx every 6 months to 1 year.
ALL IN ONE ULTRA CERAMIC FLUORIDE FILTERS
The combination of a microfilter ceramic outer, granular activated carbon and heavy metal removal media effectively removes a range of difference contaminants including bacteria, chlorine, micro plastics, trace organics, enhanced organics, pharmaceuticals, fluoride, and heavy metals such as lead.
These can replace the Black Berkey / PF-2 Fluoride flter combo when they are not available for purchase. This filter leaves also in the beneficial minerals similar to the Black Berkey Filters.
WHAT DO THE ALL IN ONE ULTRA FLUORIDE FILTERS REMOVE?
Fluoride Reduction: >99%
One Ultra Fluoride gravity filter element has been tested to remove up to 99% of Fluoride up to 1,950 ppm – E.g. if your water contains 1ppm of Fluoride these filters will effectively remove it for 1,950 Litres before needing to be replaced.
USA water companies can add a maximum of 0.7-1.7ppm (0.7-1.7 milligram per litre (mg/L)) of Fluoride to the water stipulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)” Since August 2023 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stipulated that the total amount of fluoride (added plus naturally occurring) cannot exceed 0.7 mg/L.

ULTRA STERASYL ALL IN ONE FLUORIDE TESTING RESULTS
Care Instructions:
Over time, you may notice black buildup on your Ultra Fluoride filter, especially if you live in a cloudy water area. You can clean the filter to help restore its flow. Just remove the filter and scrub the surface evenly with a clean abrasive kitchen pad under running water or in a bowl, ensuring that the open ended plastic mount is clear of the water, to avoid contamination.
For best results, replace the Ultra Fluoride filter every 6 months.
The carbon filter piece is biodegradable; plastic is recyclable.
Flow Rate:
1 filter element: 0.29 gal per hour (1.1 L)
2 filter elements: 0.58 gal per hour (2.2 L)
3 filter elements: 0.87 gal per hour (3.3 L)
4 filter elements: 1.16 gal per hour (4.4 L)
Note:
Your first use of the Ultra Fluoride Filter will be slow. No worries - this is normal.
After a few cycles (after the internal carbon block is thoroughly wet), the speed will improve. The pores on the ceramic filter element are smaller than other filters on the market, but this also allows extra exposure time to the carbon and media.
The more filter elements you use, the quicker the flow rate. Water flow is affected by the quality of water supply, so flow rate will vary.
You can only use either the Ultra Fluoride or the Ultra Sterasyl filters, not both at the same time.
